Cal Ripken, Jr. played Major League Baseball as a Shortstop and Third Baseman for the Baltimore Orioles from 1981-2001. He is a nineteen-time All-Star (1983-2001), eight-time Silver Slugger Award winner (1983-1986, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1994), two-time Gold Glove Award winner (1991, 1992) and World Series champion (1983). Ripken, Jr. was the 1982 AL Rookie of the Year and two-time AL MVP (1983, 1991). He holds the MLB record for most consecutive games played (2,632). His Uniform number (8) was retired by the Baltimore Orioles in 2001. Ripken, Jr. was inducted into both the National Baseball Hall of Fame (2007) and the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame.
