Willie Mays played Major League Baseball from 1951-1973. He spent the majority of his career playing center field for the New York/San Francisco Giants (1951-1952, 1954-1972). Mays is a twenty four-time All-Star (1954-1973), twelve-time Gold Glove Award winner (1957-1968), four-time NL home run leader (1955, 1962, 1964, 1965), two-time NL MVP (1954, 1965) and World Series champion (1954). He was the 1951 NL Rookie of the Year and the 1954 batting champion. In 1979, Mays was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and he is a part of the San Francisco Giants Wall of Fame. His uniform number (24) was retired by the San Francisco Giants in 1972.
