John Montgomery 'Monty' Ward - "Smart & Durable"

John Montgomery 'Monty' Ward was a Major League Baseball player from 1878-1894. During that time, he played multiple positions such as shortstop, second base, and pitcher. He played for the New York Giants from 1883-1889 and then again from 1893-1894. Ward was the 1878 NL ERA leader, 1879 NL strikeout leader, and pitched a perfect game on June 17th, 1880. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1964.
